The Academicians were the first unit formed and the largest unit in Anah Temple consisting of the following sections:
The Ritual Team who perform the first section of the Shrine degree;
The Properties Section which cares for, transports and sets-up & takes down the First Section Tent and Props;
The Make-Up Section which prepares the Ritualists and Candidate;
The Technicians who provide lighting and sound.
The Academicians meet monthly and usually have a covered dish to which the Ladies are invited.

Hello Fellow Academicians!
Our next unit meeting will be on Wednesday, December 13th starting at about 6pm. This will be the Annual Meeting and will be held again at Happy China Buffet on Stillwater Avenue in Bangor. As always, ladies and other friends and relatives are more than welcome to attend. Also, please bring any prospective new members who may be interested in joining the Academicians.
For all of you who didn't hear, I was literally on my way to the meeting on October 25th at Happy China when the year-and-a-half-old young lady I was with decided to "get sick" in the car which pre-empted me from being able to attend. Just part of the never-ending joys of parenthood I suppose. Anyhow, I was glad to hear that about 20 people showed up and that it was a good meeting. I hope we can have an even larger turnout for the Annual Meeting on the 13th.
With all of the campaigning that recently went on, it seems our own Donnie Copeland has re-surfaced and has ended up as Secretary for the Northern Penobscot County Shrine Club. Congratulations Donnie!
We are very busy in Rising Virtue Lodge right now working about eight or nine candidates through the degrees. I'm the Senior Deacon, and it's a special experience for me as three of them are relatives and are planning to also join the Shrine. It's great to see this kind of interest in our organizations. If you are active in Blue Lodge, well-planned fellowship nights really work. Lodges are generating many new members through these programs.
On my home front we have just replaced our heating system and have re-insulated our attic. On November 9th we joined a full house of about 7,000 people to see Bob Dylan live in Portland. Lauren is growing by leaps and bounds and is talking more and more all the time. Sally continues to be very busy at Bass Park and in her work with the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. I continue to be busy working at the Cohen School in Bangor and running after school programs. On Nov. 19th I again ran the Turkey Trot Road Race in Brewer which raises money for Brewer High's senior class. Never a loss for things to do.
Harmless Humor Time: You know you're from Massachusetts if you think crosswalks are for wimps.
Have a great December everyone, Happy Holidays, and hope to see as many of you as possible on December13th at Happy China Buffet!
As always, please contact me at rbilancia@verizon.net or at 989-2617 with any news, gossip, jokes, rumors, outright lies, or just plain old complete and utter nonsense that you would like to generously share with our Nobles, Ladies, and Anah Shrinedom in general.
