It's over! Done! Finished! Summer is gone and so is the parade season.
We Wheelers did our last Shrine Parade in Houlton and on the 7th of October
paraded in Harrington for their first annual Octoberfest celebration. Capt.
Chuck Wood thanked the parade marshal for inviting us and generously
returned the donation to be used for their own charities. Chuck is my hero!
I'm sure no one noticed that I missed writing last month's article. I
was traveling and had convinced myself that the deadline would be extended
due to the N. E. Field Days in Hartford. You know what they say about
ASSUME.
Let it be known far and wide that we Wheelers, for the lack of anything
better to do, are offering raffle tickets on kayak. --No! This isn't a unit
fund raiser. The entire proceeds go directly to the Shriners Hospital.
The Wheelers are my heroes, too!
Upon reflecting on this great summer I must acknowledge those of us
that made it more fun. Noble and Lady Gary and Cindy Curtis hosted the
Wheelers at their home over the Labor Day weekend as did Charlie Curtis at
the Cherryfield parade. Delbert & Cindy Pinkham at the Milbridge parade
and just recently Walter & Claire Kennedy at the Harrington Octoberfest.
Noble Bob Crabtree brought Lady Joan to E.M.M.C. for testing. The
doctors determined that she did indeed have a heart and that it is in better
condition than they thought. We're glad they finally have a handle on it,
Joan.
I apologize for missing the October birthdays of Nobles Delbert
Pinkham, and Charlie Curtis Jr., as well as my very own Lady Rhonda Russell.
Sure hope it was your best ever!
For November we Wheelers wish a very happy birthday to Lady Morgan and
Nobles Charlie Curtis Sr., Peter Joyce and our founding father, Bob Crabtree.
